Call For Papers

September 10, 2007

In order to facilitate the start of the Jesus Project, the first methodologically agnostic examination of the question of Jesus’ historical existence, we welcome papers of not more than 2000 words and short commentaries of about 500 words examining the evidence for the historical Jesus. The Project intends to assess both the quality of the evidence that might be used to establish historical identity as well as the conclusions drawn from the evidence itself. Given the collaborative nature of this project, we encourage submissions from numerous fields—including and not limited to biblical studies, ancient history, mythography, forensics and archaeology. Papers will be used in both the research for the Jesus Project and for possible future publication in the CSER Review. These submissions will allow us to fulfill our goal of working interactively with a large community of scholars as well as sharing new insights about the historical Jesus with a broader audience of non-specialists and the general public.
