Campus and Community Outreach
The Center for Inquiry engages in a robust program of campus and community outreach in order to enlarge the "reality based community." To further this agenda, CFI provides programming, fundraising, financial, promotional, and other kinds of professional support to a growing network of rationalist, skeptic, and humanist groups in cities and on campuses around the globe.
Almost all of these groups are outgrowths of local grassroots secular humanist and skeptical movements, most involving the leadership of local subscribers to Free Inquiry and Skeptical Inquirer magazines. These groups draw upon volunteers and Center for Inquiry Friends and supporters who are enthusiastic about CFI's efforts to advance the scientific outlook in our society and who wish to become active in our movement.
In addition to campus and community outreach, Centers for Inquiry have been founded in part to act as regional anchor points for the professional support and training of the skeptical and secular humanist movements.
CFI now maintains nine professionally staffed Centers for Inquiry and thirteen Center for Inquiry Communities across North America, with plans for continued expansion in the future. Additionally, CFI supports a network of nearly 200 CFI campus groups around the world.
If you would like to get involved with CFI's movement defending science, reason, and humanist values, start by becoming a Friend of the Center through this website, or by calling 1-800-818-7071 during normal business hours. Then, become active at the Center or Community for Inquiry in your region or the CFI campus group at your school.
